Cost of Doing Biz
Cost to feed one cat at Murphy’s Manor and/or Delta’s Den:
Friskies one can per day (half can in the morning and ½ can at night) and ¼ c dry Purina One once a day.
- $26.58 for 30 cans
- $17.98 for 7lb. bag
- $3.98 x 2 for Temptation Treats
Total: $52.52/30 days = $1.76 per day per cat
Yes, there are less expensive lower quality foods. However, these are a lower end midrange quality food that several veterinarians recommend. Just because they are community/feral cats does not mean they deserve a lesser food that is bad for them.
- The number of cats varies at each area and typically we leave a ‘pan’ of dry at each until it’s gone and then refill which averages another 2- 4 bags per month.
- More canned food is used in the warmer months because it contains water/liquid that the cats need to stay hydrated. They don’t always have a clean water source.
The cats at Murphy’s Manor and Delta’s Den are the medical cats and they also use litter! We go through about 8 containers of litter a month.
$11.98 x 8 = $95.84/month
cost of our Shelters
We make shelters for their food and water and others for sleeping. Depending on the type of shelter, the cost varies.
- $15 – Cost of a Rubbermaid or Styrofoam shelter. These shelters consist of straw in a styrofoam container set inside a Rubbermaid container with appropriate holes cut out.
- $40 – Cost of a wooden shelter. This is plywood cut and put together, painted with all weather paint, covered in tarps, add shelves for multiple sitting and eating areas to avoid fights
- Other Shelters: Repurposed dog houses, Items from Facebook Marketplace.
